Notice of Board of Education Vacancies

The Board of Education of Rankin School District #98 is accepting applications to fill two (2) vacancies on the Board of Education (vacancies as of 4/28/25).  The Board of Education is seeking to fill these positions via appointment. The newly appointed Board of Education members will serve until the next Consolidated Election - April 2027.  The Board plans to fill these positions via appointments at a Special Board of Education Meeting on May 12, 2025.  

School Board Member Qualifications – (On the date of election or by appointment)

  • United States citizen
  • Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Registered voter
  • Not be a child sex offender
  • Not hold another incompatible public office
  • Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District
  • Not be a school trustee
  • Not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment

Letters of interest and resumes will be accepted by Debbie Lowman, President of the Board of Education.  Letters of interest and resumes must be received by 3:00 p.m. on May 6, 2025.  They should be emailed to dlowman@rankin98.org (Debbie Lowman, President of the Board of Education).  A reply email will be provided to serve as a receipt of a candidate’s interest in serving on the Board of Education.  Prospective candidates should plan on being available for the Special Meeting on May 12, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.  For questions, please email Mrs. Lowman or call 309-346-3182.
