Press Release: Rankin School District #98
Re: School Board Members Day, November 15, 2024
November 15, 2024, is School Board Members Day across Illinois. Our District recognizes and appreciates the leadership and community service provided by our Board of Education. Our elected board members of Rankin School District #98 proudly serve our community through the volunteering of their time and expertise to provide guidance, leadership, and vision for our small, but mighty school district. Our District is very thankful and grateful for the many sacrifices our Board of Education members make, including spending valuable time away from their families to serve our community!
Dr. Matt Gordon, Superintendent, commented about the Rankin Board of Education, “I am fortunate to have a front row seat to how this Board of Education sets the tone for Rankin! Our Board cares deeply about this District and the Rankin Community as their leadership, guidance, and vision helps create a strong foundation. We appreciate and recognize the sacrifices they all make so that they can serve this District and Community!
Thank you to Rankin School District #98’s
Board of Education!
Dear Rankin Community,
A "RANKIN REVEAL" took place this morning as our students and staff learned that Rankin received an “Exemplary Designation” on the 2024 Illinois Report Card! This means Rankin is recognized in the Top 10% = 1 of the 377 schools out of the 3,835 schools in Illinois who earned this designation! This is Rankin’s 2nd consecutive year of earning this designation and the 4th time out of the last 5 opportunities! Please feel free to check out the video highlights of the REVEAL as it occurred with the lights off and the red spotlights on! Along with the REVEAL, today’s event included guest speakers, Mrs. April McLaughlin, Principal, and Lewis Beckham, Student Council President, as they both congratulated everyone on this tremendous accomplishment. Please feel free to use this LINK to access the “Exemplary Designation” and our entire 2024 report card.
Today’s REVEAL was such a special time as we acknowledged, embraced, and celebrated this major accomplishment. The emphasis in today’s REVEAL was that this accomplishment was the result of EVERYONE, EVERY DAY! It was noted that it’s not just about having a few good days; rather, it’s about everyone on a daily basis working as a TEAM, giving their best, and making good choices! While we certainly celebrate the “Exemplary” Designation, we wanted to be clear that what we are most proud of is what EVERYONE is doing EVERY DAY! The students were congratulated and thanked, and they were made aware of the plan for an ice cream celebration that is scheduled for the end of the day on November 8th. Also, the entire staff was recognized and thanked for all that they do for our students and for choosing Rankin as their home! Further, Mrs. McLaughlin was thanked and recognized for her steadfast leadership as Rankin’s Principal for the last 11 years. Next, the parents of our students were thanked for all their efforts in helping our Rankin Rebels come ready to learn and grow each and every day. In addition, appreciation was expressed for our Board of Education’s leadership and guidance and a special thank you was provided to our community for their ongoing support that makes Rankin School possible each and every year!
We are definitely excited about this awesome designation; however, we are most proud of what EVERYONE is doing EVERY DAY here at Rankin! We celebrate today’s great news, and we will use this achievement as motivation and reinforcement on our daily journey toward success. Rankin is very grateful for our awesome students, staff, parents, Board of Education, and community! GO REBELS!
Sincerely,
Dr. Matt Gordon, Superintendent
